Report by Brigham Young University folklore student Keith Johnson about a Chinese scholar's censer, made in Taiwan of carved, stained bamboo, shows the proper pursuits of scholars and their happiness as thinkers. It is intended to calm the soul and dispel demons. This particular item was given to collector as a gift, having formerly been a family heirloom.
